McDaniel's House Of Rust

I was delighted to get the chance to fly my drone over one of the most unique spots in Waycross — McDaniel’s House of Rust, a legendary local junkyard, for an upcoming video by the YouTube channel Angell’s Garage.

Here’s a bit of its backstory:

In 1962, a young auctioneer by the name of Jim Bennett visited this junkyard in search of parts for some of the cars he was working on. After talking to the owner, who was in a foul mood that day, the owner responded “I’ll sell you that and I’ll sell you the whole place!”

Jim, having been passionate about cars and antiques, jumped at the opportunity, purchasing the yard and becoming the new owner. Jim continued to operate and expand the junkyard, which was soon named A&B Auto Parts. After serving Waycross for several decades, Jim passed the junkyard on to his only grandson, Derek McDaniel, who continues to operate and preserve his grandfather’s legacy to this day.
