This past Sunday, I took to the skies with my drone — not for a job or a client, but just to enjoy what got me into this world in the first place: chasing trains and capturing the moment.
Railfanning has been part of my life for years. Long before Peach to Palm existed, I was out there following trains, camera in hand, learning how to time a shot and edit a story. When I started flying drones, it was a natural next step — seeing the tracks, the trains, and the world around them from a new angle just clicked. Over the years, that hobby slowly turned into something bigger. Now, I’ve taken those same skills and applied them to helping clients get top-quality aerial content… but every once in a while, it’s nice to go back to where it started.
This time, I had my sights set on something special — CSX’s Office Car Special (OCS). It’s a rare train to catch, and when it shows up, it’s usually gone just as fast. I made my way out to a familiar stretch of track, hoping to catch it in motion. Unfortunately, it stayed parked the entire time. No movement meant no pacing shots, and no video clips to put together later — but I still made the most of it.
I was able to take advantage of the quiet and got some clean, detailed stills from above — photos I probably wouldn’t have had time to focus on if it had been rolling. The angles, the lighting, the unique look of the OCS from the sky — all of it reminded me why I fell in love with drone work to begin with.
Moments like that are part of what keep me going with Peach to Palm Aerials. It’s more than a business — it’s something I enjoy doing every time I take off, whether it’s a big client job or a quiet Sunday flight just for fun.
I’ll be sharing some of the photos soon, so keep an eye on Facebook and YouTube. And if you ever need high-quality drone work — real estate, inspections, or even something unique — I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for following along.
